How to vote
- Enter your name and email below. Each board member casts one ballot. You can come back and change it: submitting again replaces your earlier ballot.
- Rank the nominees in each award. Tap the circle next to a nominee and pick a number. 1 is your top choice, 2 your second, and so on. Use each number once per award; picking a number that's already taken swaps the two.
- Rank everyone you can. A rank is worth that many points and the lowest total wins. If you leave a nominee unranked, they get the maximum points (the number of nominees in that award), which is the same as ranking them last.
- Judge on merit. Nominees are listed alphabetically for neutrality. Tap Read nomination to see what was submitted, and Award criteria for the standard. The number of nominations someone received, or the length of the write-up, should not affect your ranking.
- Write-ins are welcome. Each award has a space to suggest someone who isn't listed. Write-ins are passed to the board but are not scored in this round.
What happens after the vote
- Points for each nominee are totaled across all board ballots. The three lowest totals in each award are the finalists.
- If there's a tie for 1st, 2nd or 3rd, all tied nominees advance, so some awards may have more than three finalists.
- Finalists are announced before the TOBY Awards. The winner stays confidential until the ceremony.
- If the final winner is tied, the board holds a quick secondary vote (one vote each among the tied nominees). If it's still tied, the Board President casts the deciding vote.
- Board floor nominations are nominees raised at the October 22, 2026 board meeting. They're ranked the same way as nominees submitted by members.
